Angela Jackson


Angela Jackson is a native Southern California educator, writer, and producer who has devoted her life to improving the lives of others by creating empowering experiences through education, counseling, and inspirational writings. In 1990, Ms. Jackson graduated from UCLA with a BS in Sociology with a concentration in Psychology. Ms. Jackson later pursued and obtained her Master’s in counseling from California State University, Los Angeles. Ms. Jackson is working on her dissertation to complete her Doctorate in Educational Leadership while working with organizations and individuals to share their authentic stories via book or film. 

Ms. Jackson has dedicated her life to creating social and educational programs, poems, music, movies, and television programs that meet the community's needs. Ms. Jackson gained her foundational programming skills as an undergraduate at UCLA, working in the UCLA Community Programs Office and serving as the Programming Coordinator for the African Student Union. While at UCLA, she served as a writer and one of the editors for Nommo, the African Student Newsmagazine, where she further developed her journalism skills.

Ms. Jackson’s experience at UCLA led to her directing many community programs, including the LA Bridges program, and assisting Walt Hazzard as the Assistant Director of the Los Angeles Sports Academy.  Ms. Jackson has continued to serve the community and recently ended 8 years as VP of Social and Community Programs for the UCLA Black Alumni Association. After completing this position, Jackson decided to return to completing her doctorate.

Jackson’s dissertation topic is “ Urban African American Parental Involvement in A Secondary Public School: A Qualitative Exploratory Case .” Her research in preparation for completing her doctorate this year compels her to ensure parents and educators are empowered to work together to improve public education drastically. She is determined to see public schools serve the students who need it most.

“The Mind Matters”, a Workshop on Wellness

In an hour-long workshop, attendees will understand the power of the mind and receive the tools to strengthen their minds to achieve any desired goal. Attendees will receive a mindfulness tool kit they can use in any area of their lives. They will also practice tools with others in the workshop. This will be an informational, hands-on workshop.
